In our opinion, a seasoned GM block that we have precision machined, engraved and serialized on our CNCs is a better foundation than a new GM block. It certainly offers more value. We push these seasoned 6.0L blocks over 1,000 hp with no problem.
The stock GM cranks are cast not forged. We recommend they be upgraded well before hitting 1,000 hp, but a lot of racers push them further. The weak links on a stock shortblock are the powdered metal rods and cast pistons. This shortblock has a seasoned GM crank paired with quality rods and pistons. The crank is polished on our lathe and computer balanced with the rest of its new forged rotating assembly.
If you are looking for a replacement short block for an engine with only a cam and top-end mods, this could be a great choice for you. Our CNC machining and assembly paired with superior parts allows this short block to hit much higher levels of performance than new. Why? The naturally-aspirated, long block version of this short block does about 630 hp with our CNC-ported GM LS3 heads and more when switching to aftermarket heads (see video).
We use either Diamond Race Series pistons or Manley Extreme Duty Platinum Series LS Pistons together with either Callies or Manley rods to complete the rotating assembly. The forged H-beam rods are made with 4340 alloy. The pistons are made from 2168 alloy with wrist pins of 9310 alloy.
