The CJ-5, as this 1971 Jeep CJ-5 represents, was introduced for the 1955 model year and remained in production remarkably until 1984. The company stressed that the Universal Jeep was truly universal; in service to agriculture, public service, transportation, communications and industry, it would do the job-from street sweeping to climbing mounting trails, because it was the world's most useful vehicle.
The CJ-5 was a bit bigger/longer than the CJ-3B and was based on the round-fender '51 M38A1. Willys gave its latest Jeep Universal model lots of newness at launch, promoting it as "Completely new! New ruggedness! New dependability! New comfort! New versatility!" The CJ-5 improvements in the brakes, suspension, seating and even the glovebox (now with cover!) departments. A new instrument panel, larger windshield, and hand-brake were all selling points.
Painted in Military Olive Green with Black trim this tough-looking 1971 Jeep CJ-5 is a former State of Georgia Department of Defense vehicle. The DOD decal is still affixed to the windshield and the original radio transmitting equipment still mounted near the rear seat presents a glimpse into the former life of this classic Jeep. Other equipment includes a front-mounted Super-Winch, driving lights, grill guard, auxiliary gas can, soft top and removable soft doors. Riding on painted steel rims wrapped with aggressive 31x10.50R15LT Maxxis Bighorn tires, this 4x4 looks ready to conquer any type of terrain it is challenged with. Additionally, a spare matching rim and tire is mounted at the rear of the Jeep.

Powering this CJ-5 is a rugged 225 cubic inch "Dauntless" V6 engine with a 2-barrel carburetor shifted with a T14 3-speed manual transmission that sends power back to Dana 30 axles and all four wheels. The engine bay is clean and mostly stock in appearance. Maintenance records come with the Jeep.
