was at a young age of 19, heading to yakima, with a friend going to supershops to get some parts he needed, he was driving his lowrider truck, pass had heavy snow on it, he was pissed, he said these damn truckers drive slow as hell, he passed the truck and got up to 70 or so and lost it on the black ice, there was oncomming traffic and we went around a few times and finally slapped the gaurd rail with the back of his truck, we both grabbed another beer, he grabbed 2nd gear and off we went, like it was no big deal, man that was 23 yrs ago

at the track:
blew out a freeze plug just after the 60 ft mark
car got sideways and almost flipped.
on the highway
1977 mecury capri with a 351
in sandiego hit a muffler at around 100 on the highway.
broke a tie rod
ended up flipping the car and slidding about 1/4 mile on the roof.

At this 1/8 th mile track in Denton TX. before they lengthened the shut down area it was only about 300' and at the end of the shut down was a chain link fence with a go cart track right on the other side. As I went through the lights and hit the brakes the master cylinder failed and no chute! Just before I got to the fence was able to steer into the field on the right side and spin around to stop. I also needed some cleanout time. Thought I was going to do some roundy round with the carts! LMAO

Back in the `80's I had a beater `72 F-100. After working late at a local grocery store,I headed home (only about a mile and a half). For some reason ,the traffic was heavier than normal that night. I was coming upon a traffic light when it changed to red. No problem I thought, I can stop this turd. I hit the brakes, which did their best imitation of Huddini and dissapeared. I mean the pedal hit the floor in two times zones! The only thing that I could do was hold on tight to the wheel as I shot though the intersection! I don't know who was more skerd, me , or the two people who went through the intersection just in front of me!

The first time i had a drive shaft break on my 72 chevelle. Boy I tell you about the risk dummies like me use to take! stock chassis, 10.5" slicks, th400 w/brake 4500 conv and a 496cu bbc with a stock drive shaft. I go to high gear and fill something beating the floor to death! I lifted my feet so high from the floor my knees were probably hitting my chest! I didn't know what the hell was going on! totally changed the shape of the floor in that car. That's one car that found every short coming that I tried to get away with. stock axles - broke, stock drive shaft - broke, posi - broke, etc.!

Looks like many of us learned the hard way that booze and cars do not mix.
