I really wanted to go back to my childhood and play some good old Counter-Strike 1.6, but I ran into a problem. I started looking for a place to download the game, but all I could find were modified builds with unnecessary CS:GO models, colorful menus, built-in cheats, and other junk. Does anyone know where I can find a clean, unmodified version, like the ones in computer clubs back in the day? I just want to install it and start playing without any hassle.

I'm curious, too-how safe is it to download these clients right now? I'm worried about encountering viruses or downloading a version with a compromised master list that directs users to advertising bots instead of normal servers. Is there a version available with a fully secure configuration?

I understand your point- I've downloaded CS:GO mod packs a few times myself. They ruin your FPS and look terrible. I was also looking for a "clean" vanilla build like the ones in computer clubs in the 2000s. I finally found the classic CS 1.6 client on the CSGet website. It's a completely original build with standard weapon and player models, default sounds, and no ads or hard-coded auto-connects. The config file is fully protected against overwriting, so shady servers won't be able to alter your menu or flood your console with spam. I’ve been playing on it for a month now and have no complaints. Do you enjoy playing on classic maps like de_dust2 and de_inferno?
