1.428 60' time with 9.65 et is my 60' time slow?

Video needed for tuning
If you could get some video on your roadster that you could see what the rear of the body/chassis is doing, you can start the learning curve to getting this into the 1.30ft range pretty quickly.
Just by the info you supplied, you have the power, gear seems good enough for your weight too. IMO, I would start with the rear shock settings with changing from a 50% setting on the compression and go stiffer and watch your 60ft's, once you start dropping down keep adjusting until your best 60ft goes away, then go back to the last setting or your best 60' setting and then start on the rebound or extension of the shock, and that setting should be in the softest setting to start out with and work with that going stiffer again until you see moe drop in 60', seems like you may be too stiff on extension. One click at a time, and yes, it will take some time, fuel, and moe money for fuel but if it all works, it may pay for itself later when you go rounds
Your I/C does sound a little low and not very far out, but try the shock adjustments first, one change at a time with each direction EXT/COMP and log down your results so you have this info to go back too. I am gaining knowledge on chassis's but your roadster is a little lighter than my 3600lb Elky and I used to hit 1.40 60's on a 10.5 tire running 9.90-9.80 at over 136mph.
If you can't get better 60's with shock adjustments, you may need to adjust your lower bars, and try going up 1 hole on the front bracket only.
Wish we could see a few pics of the rear tires on the launch and what the back end of the chassis is doing, this may help out a bunch.
Go to the 4 link basic post on the top of this page and read this info., you should pick up some very good useful info from a few of these guy's thoughts. Good luck and keep us posted.

John thanks for your in put, i raced at madras oregon sat.- sun. it is a 1/8 mile and around 3000' elevation it was in the 90's. i did raise the front lower 4 link bar 1 hole, this brought the intersect back to 45" (from 52") and up to 5 1/2" off ground, i had run there in early august 3 runs 60' were 1.528-1.503 this time 4 runs were 1.516-1.489 air pressure was 6 1/2# sunday i put a stop on the throttle to slow down and see if i could be better on the lights and i was better but round 1 it ran a tenth quicker! break out. i will be running this weekend at champion dragstrip in white city or. (1/4 mile) oldies race & run in roadster-dragster class 4 tenths pro tree will post results, now i will do as you said and start on the shock settings. i will try to post a picture from last saturday at madras. thanks again bowler

Cool! Don't be afraid to drop the tire pressure though. What does it weigh? The lighter the car, the less pressure you'll need. My car spins like crazy with 6.5lbs. It weighs 2200lbs with me in it....and I usually run 4.5-5lbs. Sometimes more if the track is really good.

Johnny the car weights 2400# with me in it (200#) using 4 corner bathroom type scales hope to get accurate weight this weekend, 47% on front 53% on rear, my rear tires are hoosier 32.5x16.5x15 c07 hoosier told me these are old pro stock type tires not sure of the sidewall stiff or soft?i will call hoosier to make sure. johnny are yours stiff or soft? thanks bowler. went to hoosier web site and my tires are not stiff or soft or light weight the hoosier part #18300c07

My tires are soft sidewall. Some feel that a car 2200lbs and up needs stiff sidewall tires. I disagree. Every car is different.
A buddy of mine has a 72 Chevelle, 2800lbs, 565 ReherMorrison, has run 9.08 @ 148mph up here in Colorado, around 7000ft that day. He's tried stiff sidewalls and it just spins, so he runs soft........6.5lbs most of the time.
Are your tires old? I mean age, not number of runs.
If it was me, I'd start with 5 1/2-5 3/4lbs next time out and see what it does. If it shakes or handles weird, go up. JMO

changed 4 link to 45" intersect and 5 1/2" off ground, went to champion (about 2000' in mid 90's) last weekend got in 6 runs i dropped air to 6#-5 3/4# and 5 1/2# with no problems, deep staged had 1 run i didn't get in (257 light) others were 009, 028, 018, first round i raced a dragster i staged & he went in to deep had to wait while he backed up & restaged i had a 221 light he had a .931! i won, second i had a 044 against a 166 but the car ran 10.453 on a 10.22 dial. 60', et & speed 1.61, [email protected], 1.55, [email protected], 1.56, [email protected], 1.56, [email protected], 1.64 first rd. lifted, 1.53, 10.45 @125.54 i had adjusted the throttle stop bolt out 2 turns because of the 135 mph (was wearing my 1 layer jacket). still seems slow off line, i'am suppose to get a video but not sure when. i did weight the car with out me in it 2150# plus 200#, i have 2 more races this year i'am not sure that my converter is good? over this winter i will have it checked out.bowler

Doug, i definately think you have converter problems, i run in the mid 1.40's with my Malibu and it weighs 3200 lbs. plus and only 377" with a 5500 converter, leaving at 4200 on the trans brake. That's with 14X32's and a 5.43 gear.

Zip it is not spinning off the line! in my woodie the last race with it it ran 9.60's @ 135 mph & 7500 rpm (left the line hard) i sent that converter to continental and it was damaged, i know something is not right, in this car i don't have a playback tach. this car i put accel 300 ing. box & coil, i have the 6a box & coil that was in the woodie and will change it out before my last race just to see if there is a difference. this weekend @ woodburn (cool weather) will see if it will run 9.60's. thanks bowler
