Good question Tod, I just deburr everything real good, make sure everything operates smoothly, loc-tight the cover bolts weld pick tube and be done with it.
I've always run Melling HV pumps, never had any problems.
I have heard about the powered metal gear problem(s) but I have yet to see one that has failed>
I'd Like to know more about it and when the switch to powered metal gears was made.
Anybody?
Now if money is not a object then go with a Titan, they are bulletproof.

I tried for months to buy CVR BBC oil pumps from Competition Products and direct from CVR. All I ever got was "They are out of stock" or "Production has been delayed" from both of them. CVR would answer my emails but never would tell me when I could get my hands on one. Competition Productd would just keep trying to upgrade me to a CVR aluminum pump which I did not want.
I wonder if they have actually ever produced any at any time?

Melling Select 10552 10% more Volume high presssure, Designed to be Happy at 70psi. Been running it for 2 seasons now with Very good Results.
It is made for a Bolt on or press in pickup tube but I ended up having to use a press-in style and welded it fully.
