'84-88 Corvette C4 - 4+3 "Doug Nash" transmission (4 speed manual with automatic overdrive on gears 2-4). Most owners agree that when it works, it works fine. However, this transmission is plagued with problems, especially after being driven hard. Of course, why would somebody buy a Corvette to never drive hard once in a while?

The C4 Corvette’s 4+3 Doug Nash transmission is definitely an interesting piece of engineering. When properly maintained and working as it should, it can perform really well.
