I would agree with cepx111 and I am a Ford guy. Start with a 351w and you can get a lot out of a stock block. I had built a stock windsor block with a stock crank and cleveland heads that was making around 600 hp. I will admit that was on the edge of what those parts were capable of but it held up fine.
