hey bud, the strange 1350 pinion yoke comes with some heavy duty
straps for the u-joint, the u-straps are the way to go in holding the joints, with this you don't need the moroso girdle, but its there now 8) |
Thanks for the advice.
I guess it just comes down to preference as the straps work well but only put pressure in the center of the u-joint were the gurdle puts pressure on the hole u-joint including making it so there is no side to side movement. |
for me it was not preference but seeing the guy who split his yoke
and differential juice all on the starting line after a transbrake jerk of torque and we have a yoke/joint failure. So i wanted to see what the big horsepwr cars were using, well i was lucky to meet pat musi at a gm event in vegas and asked him all sorts of info, and he uses a mark williams yoke with straps, he said its the initial take off that gets all the parts tested and he also changes everything after so many runs, but the info on the concetrated pressure is interesting, but i think i will go with what the pros are using 8) |
Ironicly thats why i went with the straps necause most of the Mustang guys run those so thats why i picked them up..
Now granted they are not "pro's" by no means just guys that run Outlaw class's and true 10.5 stuff like that. I do agree though as i was always taught that (IF YOU WANT TO GO FAST ASK THE PEOPLE THAT ARE GOING FAST!).... |
you know those guys might not be pros but their cars still
take alot of torque, and i was going to purchase the moroso ujoint part until i was told to use the straps, i tell you, everyone has what they like, i just don't want to be the guy who spills my rear at the starting line, good luck  |
I feel you there as that has always been a concern of mine.. Thanks goodness instead of puking a rear end last year it just burnt thru the posi instead.. lol
Was still able to muster 1.54 off of one wheel though.. http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/8...28acopypc8.jpg Can't wait to see what it will be like with both tires working now.. Still didn't work to bad for a full wieght stock suspension Mustang though and power only going to one wheel.. It was a hand full to drive thats for sure down the track.. lol Every time i shifted it wanted to wiggle a bit.. lol |
|
uh ho, did not know the joint had the fittings for grease realy
makes them a weak link for failure, was told not to use with fittings, they break  |
I think i should be ok, my buddy went low 9's with the same split size u-joint. lol So i am sure my 11 sec car will do just fine... ;)
