Stuck?? what do you mean by stuck? siezed up ?? the engine should bog down a little when you adjust your hydrolic cam and its a little to far out of adjustment .. I assume hydrolic since you stated till the rockers stop rattling... any more info ?? solid cam ? roller ? cam lobes wiped out ?

seized yes springs inside froze and quit oiling kindof like if the were solids, and new ones work good but now are starting to do it too the motor starts popping not loud popping like times too high and laboring almost dieing.can't set past .004 with feeler gauge hydrolic cam 490 like stock cam all stock lobes rockers and springs look good .maybe cams qround wrong :?: can't figure it out.help any?thanks

Do you have roller rockers? They will always make a little rattling noise. Are you pushrods okay?Best way to set valves is with engine warm but not running.Get the valve your adjusting completely closed to the head, then tighten the nut untilyou just barely get rid of all your slack. Then put 1-1.5 turns of preload on it and walk away.

no rollors, push rods are good.that' how i usually ajust by bumping up the valves but it wont run.u can't even go a 1/4 a turn if u do it one at a time or the motor starts to die.tried it hot cold running not running .what could it be??thanks

Did you put the cam in yourself? Is it a possibility that you got the timing set out of time, like one tooth off.I did that once,it sucked.I learned to slow down :D

bbc28racing 03-04-2008 08:39 PM

that makes sense, definety will check it.thanks

Can't think of anything else off the top of my head. Let us know what you find

I thnik 1 1/2 turns is to much on the lifter adjustment. 1/2 to 3/4 turn should be plenty to put plunger in center of lifter.

bbc28racing 03-04-2008 09:36 PM

yes but,i can't even turn them a 1/4 it won't run if i go 1/2 usually would set on tight 1/4
