BBC Procomp heads
I was thinking about buying a set of Procomp Heads for a BBC. Are they junk or are they good?
|
It will depend on how they will be used. We buy them bare (do not buy them if they have PC parts in them) and check them here in our shop. Some we will have to do valve jobs on and others are ok. Sometimes you will find that the guides are too tight. Over time, we have found out that if you use good parts they have been pretty good. I have a customer that has a set of the CNC 360's on a 525 in a dragster that runs 4.80's in the 1/8th. I probably wouldn't use them on a blown application.lol

To the original poster...I suggest you talk to "Gungho" on this forum. Despite the bad reputation ProComp has he saysd he has had very good luck with his.I think he bought them bare and had good stuff put in them though.

The only thing you did on Yellow bullet is make yourself look like a bitch. So what if you paid them....how long did it take you?And you only paid up after it was pushed and someone found out who you were etc..I don't remember. All anyone needs to do is go over there and read...there is enough there that as soon as I saw your name I remembered the crap from last summer....So, all you do is make yourself look bad and hurt your chances of selling stuff in the future. That's the reason I brought it up here.Let people go over there and read the thread and make up their own mind. Your character comes through in the way you conduct yourself in that thread. Good luck with your Paypal dispute. If you are really in the "right" I'm sure they will pay you....eventually.

Back to how much PROCOMP heads suck or don't suck. :) |
tod on the whole ksp thing until they both prove disprove ill stay out and wast there a whole thread on theses heads
|
There are many threads about these heads..that's why I suggested he PM gungho. Gungho has a set, most can only report what we have heard.
|
We have used 5 or 6 sets so far. We have never used a complete set opting to buy bare and put our components in. They seem to work good. We have used only Jesel so far so I can't tell you if the rocker bosses hold up. I am neither thrilled or dissapointed.......Yet.

We have done a lot of these heads we also get them bare and put good parts in them and have never had a problem with them Now I'm not telling you that they are the best head out there if so you couldn't buy them for the price they are .
But on the same hand if a shop checks them and put's good parts in them they are worth the money . also it depends on what you are trying to do with them like anything else build them and use them for what they are intended for . They will work fine for the street and mild race engine's as long as you use good parts in them. That's just my opinion of course and i have sold plenty of them with no issue's |
We have had no problems yet. I think they are a good deal for the price. I would never buy them complete as I want to know what is in them for sure. The castings seem fine and are stronger than the stock bbc alum heads in the rocker boss, but I would'nt get crazy on spring pressure. We port them a little and they seem to flow ok. IMO they are worth the money.
