Burnout contest question

Not sure if this is the place for this but.....our club has a burnout contest coming up at a local track. My question is, is there anything I can put down that will smoke more than water? I have BFG 275/60R's on the rear, a linelock, 468, 4sp,4.10 gears, if it matters. Thanks

I know the old uniroyal tiger paws were smoke machines back in the day and they were cheap too. not sure if there still around? might want to check with a local tire shop.

otherwise I saw in a magazine a couple times a tire that smoked RED smoke instead of white. somebody else might know the brand of this one?

 Sounds like he's knows from experience!I know my Saginaw only let me line lock it once....kinda...actually I got the KABOOM!!Before the tires ever rolled.Stripped the cluster and I drove it 3 miles back home like that laughing the whole time.Sounded like a cannon every now and then when it would pick up a chunk of gear and throw it around inside the case.HAHA!!Shoulda seen my girlfriend, she was holding her feet up off the floor like it was coming to get her :D She was pissed and I almost pissed my pants laughing so hard!!

Tod74 05-07-2008 04:08 PM

yeah once it goes kaboom there is nothin' you can do about it so as much as it sucks for money and time lost it don't pay to dwell on it so might as well laugh even if ya feel like crying. Sorta like that picture of the old race car where the crankshaft is bouncing off the pavement under the car...lol

Kumho makes tires that smoke red and blue. They also have tires with scented smoke. They are VERY expensive though.

Here are the scented ones:

Blue Smoke:

Pretty neat, but way out of my budget!

burn'um if you got'um, or bring a spare to go home in, but
either way, just "BURN'UM if you GOT'UM", it takes more
rubber than rim, so you 24" rimmers don't stand a chance 8) :)

topcat572 05-08-2008 05:22 PM

Bleach in the older days? :?

yea, about a 2.70 gear would help you get them tires up to about 200mph. I have won 8 burnout contests.

Have you ever had a tire blow up and damage the quarter panel or anything like that?

kwkracing 05-21-2008 08:15 PM

burnouts

Yes I have blown tires, I always start with brand new tires, so i get alot of smoke before getting down to popping time. If its one of my drag cars, will put a thin steel plate inside the wheel tube, so it dont rip the thin aluminum out or dent it. On a normal fendered car or truck with a stock inner fender i have never damaged one. If i knew how to post pics here, i would put up some pics, like when i won one with a 25' tri hull boat i dropped on a frame with a blown alky sbc and won two burnouts with.
