Doesn't matter, B/BLK,S/BLK the lifters are the same size, there's .100 travel in the piston on the lifters. The only difference is if you have 3/8" studs or 7/16" studs. 3/8 1 turn equels .050, 7/16X20 equels 1 1/4 turns. Set it in the middle and go from there. But it really sounds like you have an oiling problem.

Can't belive I just read all them posts. I would like to add some info but this thread is far two technical for me.

A hydraulic lifter whether in small or big block chevy adjusts the same. zero plus ½ to 1 turn. Anywhere close will work but may not perform as it could.
Now I think the pushrods are too long causing the plunger to bottom out siezing the springs.

Its not really all that technical, the billingham-langston ganglia wrench is quite easy to master, its the philpott extension that complicates things. :)

True, but heckling him and poking fun at his ignorance doesn't make it a productive thread.....

There is plenty of room for humoring and joking around in " In the pits" section of this forum without offending anyone's intelligence. Again JMO

Jeeeminy Charles, have you read this whole thing? This thing stopped being productive 4 or 5 pages ago! We all tried to help the guy, no ones even mentioned ignorance till now! If i insulted your intelligence I truly apologize, but you need to lighten up. Most of us take our humor, where we can find it! The guy says he has a shop(business?), if so then he knows how to adjust hydraulic lifters, if not, he needs to find a new line work! JMO, I think he was trolling for aggravation, and caught his limit. Let me add, that that he also knows his lifters aren*t oiling, And it ain*t because of his distributer, wiring, heads, or a bad cam. I*M more than happy to apologize to anyone I offended, but I*LL be go to He@^ if I*LL delete it!
