Go for it! :D

Transmissions are not that difficult, an automatic is easier than a standard in my opinion. Get a good tech manual if you don't have one. Just check all the planetaries, thrust bearings, bushings, pump, valve body and flush everything thuroughly, Be sure you get the pump haves aligned correctly when reassembling if you don't have a pump alignment band (or a really big hose clamp) you can use the trans case, by turning the pump over with no oring. Better to use the band but the case will work Ok.

Good Luck,

Bill

Sorry, I did mean the center support/low roller. If/when you can afford it, a powerglide is a better way to go for most. Take the time to take apart/clean out everything if you stay with the 350. It's a good idea to have the converter cut and cleaned. And you can't flush the cooler enough.

yeah im thinking i may try to find a glide to build this winter. i use the car street and strip thats why i was trying to tough out the th350 but i want and brake and i wanna go fast...lol well as fast as i can with a pump gas motor anyway. thanks for the info guys

The glide will hurt the 60 ft. times but will be much more consistent.

Most cars will pick up ET with a glide. Unless the car is over 3800-4000lbs or has insufficient stall/gear it will pick up. A 3spd is worth a little in a Comp style car with a narrow RPM range, but those are high dollar light weight units as well.
