Sorry folks, this sale DOES NOT include the '32 Ford Roadster or the Hilborn I-R EFI system or other visible equipment in the engine bay; only the Ram Tubes and Filters. I included the shot so a potential buyer can appreciate what those stacks will do for his or her engine compartment.
These are authentic Hilborn aluminum ram tubes designed and manufactured for the Hilborn I-R injection systems for BBC and other engines. There are 8 of them and each measures 6" tall and 3" wide. They came from the factory with a dull surface finish. The seller had them buffed to a mirror shine by a professional polishing shop. The only scuffs begin an inch above the bottom of each tube; the depth they are inserted into the individual intake throats. The scuffs are of course hidden when the stacks are fully inserted.
The ram tubes did not come with any air filters. Therefore the seller, an amateur machinist, designed, laid out and machined 2 sets (8 per set) of in-stack filters: A Low Restriction set and a Moderate Restriction set.
The Low Restriction set contains a single stainless steel mesh screen rated at 30 x 30 / 40% open area. The filter's total opening within the tube measures 2.62" diameter. The SS screen is held in place between an upper and lower ring amply coated with JB Weld. The outer circumference of the filter has a groove for a thin Buna-N O-ring, which seals and helps hold the filter in place inside the ram tube. To further stabilize the filter inside a stack, each tube is drilled and tapped for a tiny SS 4-40 buttonhead screw located below the D-shaped lip of each tube. This arrangement effectively hides the screws after the stacks are inserted in the throats.
The Moderate Restriction set is a bit more complicated. Their outer circumference also features a groove for a Buna-N O-ring for sealing and stabilizing the filter inside each ram tube. The filter's total opening within the tube also measures 2.62" diameter. A lightly-oiled, 3/8"-thick disk of red UNI foam rated at 40 PPI is sandwiched between two SS mesh screens rated at 15 x 15 / 73% open area. Driven on the street, according to the seller, there is absolutely no noticeable performance difference between the two sets. That said, the Moderate Restriction set will certainly help the motor live a lot longer.
These filter sets come with these ram tubes and are an inseparable part the package, even though they increase the price by $2,500. The seller believes that compared to what a professional motorsports machine shop would charge to design, layout, machine and construct these two sets, plus the materials, the cost would easily be triple that amount if not much more.
