Turn key one-of-a-kind 2008 Nissan 350Z Super Gas Roadster. Dual frame-rail “Vanishing Point” chromoly chassis, funny car style flip up fiberglass body, 496 BBC engine.
Absolutely one of the finest and rarest supergas roadster on planet Earth. Almost everything is either chromed, three coat powder-coated or polished. Beautiful work of art and “head turner”; always draws a crowd at the track. NHRA (10-4) and IHRA chassis certs are expired and I don’t care, as I don’t run the car fast enough to require them.
The approximate number of runs on the car is probably north of 500 passes. When new (750 hp dyno’d), in 2008, the car ran 5.60’s, 124 mph (1/8 mile) for about 20 – 25 passes, just to see what it would do. I then slowed the car to run non-electronic 6.40’s for racing in the Southeast Supergas Association here on the East Coast. After racing for only one year with them, they disbanded. For several years, I raced the car at numerous 1/8 mile tracks here in North Carolina. When Mooresville re-opened, I set Mooresville as my main track and race there either in ET bracket or 7.0 Index classes or Thursday night T&T. Car is currently set up for non-electronic foot brake 6.90 (as high as 18th place out of over 150 class cars) and Mooresville’s 7.0 Index series (this year: two semi-finals and one finals finish out of six races). Car is set up to run with Dedenbear electronics and non-electronics including 500 cfm Holley two barrel carb and restrictor plates (6.35 to 7.10). Car also comes with the original 1050 Holley 4 barrel Dominator and ET Genie under-carb adjustable restrictor plate (for non-E 6.0 index racing), and Biondo air activated throttle stop for super gas or full electronics racing.
Chassis is in like new condition with no stress risers or cracks, as I don’t run the car that hard or abuse it. All aluminum panels have Dzus fasteners for easy removal and maintenance, and are powdered coated. Body has some rock fractures and chips, and the driver’s front fender has a crack in it from a return road pot-hole. Paint job is Acrylic lacquer from the “Restoration Shop” and colors can still be bought from them if patching is desired rather than re-painting the car.
The 496ci BBC engine is a two bolt main cap RV block with Crower steel rods and crankshaft, JE pistons, Crower gear drive, Jeff Johnson 12qt billet aluminum oil pan, Meziere electric water pump, Ron Davis aluminum radiator, Brodix BB aluminum heads with Crower SS rocker arms and valve stud girdle and MSD 7a ignition system. Convertor is a Continental 9” and Dedenbear/Reid case powerglide (out of certification date as well). The front disc brakes, struts and single adj. shocks are Strange Engineering, rears are Afco single adj. shocks, rear end is a Fab 9 housing, Strange Eng. 31 spline axles and disc brakes, typical four-link system and anti-roll bar, Strange Eng. Aluminum third member with I believe 5.38 gears. Also, on-board three nozzle fire extinguishing system.
I am retiring from racing. Complete turn-key race ready car: $18,000 cash. I might sell as a roller for $16K Email me at: [email protected]. No phone calls please as I’m hearing impaired. Best thing is to come to Mooresville, NC for a Thursday evening test and tune session and watch the car run down the track in person. With a reasonable (and you being experienced and qualified), I would possibly let you drive the car down the track. A”Big-boy” would have a hard time getting in and out of the car, even with the electric step. I am 5’7” and 180 lbs. A friend of mine drove the car and he is 6’, weighs 200 lb and fit very comfortably. The foot pedals (for leg length) and seat height are adjustable.
I will not respond to endless questions and pictures requests. Please be serious and have the financial wearwithal to purchase the car. I’m too old (late 70’s) and too grumpy to play nonsensical games.
