1955 Chevrolet 210 2-Door Sedan
For consignment, 1955 Chevrolet 210 2- door sedan powered by a Chevy small block only this one has 406ci and some high performance internals and components that likely produce a few more horses than the V8 it was born with. It's a beautiful car with some go fast goodies like aluminum heads and a M22 transmission, along with some cosmetic upgrades that make it the perfect candidate for a little show 'n go!
Exterior
Finished in stunning Burgundy Metallic over white, the two tone pattern is classic and better than new with two stage paint that creates a blinding luster. The new for '55 shoebox design of the car includes flat panels, a broad hood, and bulbous tail between two squared fins that conclude in LED taillights. In '55, the side trim is split, and the rear spear is accented with wing and tail, demarcating where the white paint ends and the burgundy begins. The chrome, from the hood ornament, the bumpers, the light rings, and the polished metal in the trim is in excellent condition. Further bling is provided by the 15-inch polished American Racing Torque Thrust wheels and a pair of chrome exhaust tips. Imperfections include several deep cracks in the burgundy paint, some areas of rougher paint, scratches, and an area of dullness on the fender tops.
Interior
Vertically pleated saddle leather adorns the door panels intersected by metal trim, surrounded by a tan painted header and brown carpeted lower, all in wonderful condition. This pattern is mirrored by wider bands on the front split bench seat and the rear bench which in turn is surrounded by the pleat pattern of the door on the sidewalls. It's back to the future with retractable seatbelts and the addition of a steering wheel from a 1960 Impala. The column is topped with an AutoMeter tachometer and shift light in front of the wedge shaped speedometer and standard Chevy stamped dash trim plate. A radio is embedded in the dash above the auxiliary gauge pod for oil, fuel, and water. The passenger's wedge trim on the dash emanates from the analog clock. The newer brown loop carpet covers the floor swimmingly and the newer headliner and visors also look great and houses a dome light that is now LED. A Hurst shifter with line lock occupies the center floor hump and provides a grippy white knob for the pilot.
Drivetrain
Clean and show quality under the hood is the 406ci V8 with a Holley 750cfm 4-barrel carburetor on an Edelbrock intake over aluminum heads and Stahl headers. It's sparked by MSD, cooled by an aluminum radiator and electric fan, and delivered fuel through an electric fuel pump. Setting the car into motion is a Muncie M22 4-speed manual transmission sending power to a Currie 9" rear with 3.73 gears. Disc brakes occupy the front and rear.
Undercarriage
Super clean underneath with very little surface and no oil leaks to speak of. The newer dual exhaust enters Flowmaster mufflers before heading out back. A sway bar, scatter shield, and drive shaft loop are present underneath, so you know this car means business! Suspension consists of newer coil springs up front and leaf springs and Caltrac bars out back. Our consignor also states new shocks, including air shocks in the rear, have been added.
Drive-Ability
The 406 cuber lights up with the kind of ruckus that makes even tough guys a little big giddy. The sound and power underfoot get in your blood in a rush and it's off to the test loop we roll. Visibility is great in these bread boxes and acceleration is not lacking while braking and handling are more than adequate. In the end, this car performed well, and all functional items worked as intended. A+
We all have our favorite Tri-5's and if a 1955 210 is on your wishlist, take a gander at this one. It's well sorted, fast, comfortable, and needs nothing but your butt in the seat, hand on the shifter, and right foot leaning in. The fantastic color combo and clean interior are just icing on the cake for the solid drivetrain including the infamous M22 Rock Crusher under the hump. Don't red light on this one. Stage yourself in front of the phone, then ring it so you can bring it!
