Big Block Chevy engines have been a fan-favorite since they were introduced decades ago because they deliver massive torque down low and plenty of horsepower higher up the RPM band. Borowski Race Engines has integrated a set of superior quality aftermarket parts and applied our state-of-the-art CNC machining in order to create this 555 cubic inch BBC that delivers 733 horsepower and 733 lb-ft torque. That is 1.32 hp per cubic inch in a hydraulic roller street build intended for use as a daily driver. It is of course fuel injected, but if you are still in love with carbs, we can take care of that for you.
The short block features a Dart block, Callies crank & rods and Diamond pistons. A COMP hydraulic roller cam controls the valve train. The heads are Dart Pro1's that we have CNC machined from porter castings on our 5-axis. While the castings may be the same, the heads are different from the CNC heads that you can purchase from Dart.
A Holley Sniper EFI rests on top of an Edelbrock Victor Jr intake manifold. Spark is delivered by an MSD billet distributor. Moroso parts include the oil pan, filter and ignition wires.
Why buy ours instead of say a GM 572/620 Deluxe 621 HP for about the same money? Well for starters, theirs comes with a carb that you need to install yourself while ours is fuel injected and dyno tested at our shop. They say it's their baddest Big Block street engine. Really? Our entry level street LS does 625 horsepower. This 555ci Big Block beats their 572 by over 100 on both horsepower and torque.
Getting past that, the match up on part and machining quality is a no contest. Our 555 is built in our shop by skilled technicians who love motorsports. Where is the GM 572 made, was it ever dyno tested? Who knows? Loves motorsports? It seems that OE's have kicked the internal combustion engine to the curb to suck up tax credits. Not convinced yet? Warranty? They got one - we've got one. Want it customized? We can handle it. Try that with GM or the big box guys.
Need a serpentine system? This diamond-cut black beauty from CVF Racing can come mounted on your new Big Block. The all-inclusive WRAPTOR 8-track Serpentine System for Chevy Big Block engines comes with a 140 Amp alternator, GM Type II Power Steering Pump and Peanut Style AC compressor. CVF Racing's 8 Rib Serpentine pulleys increase grip, reduce stretching and prevent slippage compared to traditional 6 Rib designs. The spring loaded Gates tensioner ensures proper tension during hard acceleration and deceleration while compensating for belt stretch. This serpentine places the alternator on the driver's side above the power steering pump. Want a different look or set-up? CVF Racing has lots of options to choose from instead of the one shown.
