1971 Chevrolet Corvette - Rolling Chassis
Asking Price: $44,000 USD
Beautiful 1971 Corvette coupe with exceptional Mille Miglia Red lacquer paint, an extensively restored chassis, substantial suspension and drivetrain upgrades, and a comprehensive collection of included components. A high-quality foundation for a street-driven Corvette, pro-touring build, or performance project.
This is an unfinished project. The engine, clutch, big-block radiator support and big-block hood are required to complete the car. The original numbers-matching M20 four-speed transmission is included but is not installed.
BODY, PAINT & HISTORY
Originally a 270-hp 350, M20 four-speed car with manual steering and brakes and factory AM-FM radio. The car underwent a body-off-frame restoration approximately 12 years ago, when it had approximately 47,000 miles.
Finished in beautiful Mille Miglia Red lacquer, the body presents exceptionally well, with excellent panel fit, outstanding paint, excellent glass and chrome, and no known collision history. The visible metal birdcage is in outstanding condition.
Following the original restoration, the car earned an NCRS Top Flight award with a reported score of 99.6 points. Extensive supporting documentation is available, including the award certificate, judging sheets, original invoice, tank sheet, original bill of sale, Protect-O-Plate and a Zora Duntov-autographed owner's manual.
The car was purchased from climate-controlled storage in 2025 with the intention of building it for NCRS Concours Modified competition. Mechanical deficiencies discovered after purchase prompted an extensive mechanical re-restoration.
CHASSIS & SUSPENSION
The frame was powder-coated semi-gloss black. Suspension components were refinished, and virtually all fasteners had been stripped and replated during the original restoration.
Rear:
• Van Steel-rebuilt and blueprinted Super 10 differential
• 3.70:1 limited-slip gearing
• 3-inch chrome-moly half-shafts from Mark Williams
• Van Steel-blueprinted trailing arms
• Van Steel 360 composite rear spring
• Adjustable camber rods and reinforced rear crossmember
• Bilstein rear shocks
• Correct big-block/LT1-style rear stabilizer bar
Front:
• 550-lb-rate big-block springs
• Big-block front stabilizer bar with Van Steel components
• Bilstein front shocks
• New steering and suspension components, finished with attention to original appearance
The original-restoration brake components remain in excellent condition.
WHEELS & TIRES
New 15 x 8.5-inch American Racing Torque Thrust D wheels, with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires: P225/75R15 front and P235/75R15 rear.
Also included is the original F70 x 15 Firestone spare on a Chevrolet Rally wheel, with restored spare-tire carrier and jack.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT, WIRING & OTHER UPGRADES
Extensive wiring work includes replacement rear tail-lamp and instrument-panel harnesses, with engine-compartment harnesses reworked and detailed. The front lamp harness remains unmodified.
A removable manual-transmission crossmember was fabricated using a vintage road-racing concept. It retains the stock components and unbolts with four Grade 8 fasteners for easier transmission removal and installation.
The interior is black standard trim. Manual window regulators were converted to power windows using correct OEM components and switches. The console, instrumentation and interior have received extensive restoration work, including new upholstery, carpet, door panels, seat components and other trim. The instrument cluster has fresh gauge faces and a correct high-RPM LS6 tachometer. A Bluetooth-capable radio conversion retains the stock-style case, face and controls.
