1969 CAMARO Z/28 - EARLY BUILD, NUMBERS MATCHING, ONTARIO CAR SINCE NEW
This Z/28 shipped from Norwood on December 18, 1968 to Belmont Chevrolet in Weston, Ontario, and it has never really left home. It spent its documented life with Ontario owners, and the paper trail runs unbroken from a 1976 Ministry transfer permit to a clean 2024 lien search.
It is a Z/28 the way it was meant to be: the 302/290, M21 close-ratio four-speed, Positraction, power front discs and E70-15 white-letter tires, with tinted glass as the only comfort option. LeMans Blue with white stripes over a black interior.
The early build date is why it wears the clean flat hood and no spoilers. Chevrolet didn't announce the cowl-induction hood to dealers until late November 1968, and the first factory installations came at the end of December, so a mid-December Z/28 looking like this is exactly right.
Numbers matching, with period proof: the 1976 Ontario transfer permit records the engine number V1211DZ (Flint, December 11, DZ suffix for the 302 with four-speed), stamped one week before the car shipped. Few Z/28s can point to a 50-year-old government document carrying their engine stamp. The car has since received a concours restoration.
