You are looking at a '39 Chevy Coupe street/strip gasser Veteran's Tribute car that I must regretfully sell due to health issues (the birth of this car only preceded mine by 7 years). This is a California car that was said to have raced at Half Moon Bay in the 60's. I obtained it in 2007 and completed a rebuild in 2008. I didn't build it as a show car but as a special interest car, but it is very popular at shows and a consistent trophy winner. I've rarely raced it but it's been run at the Gasser Reunion at Thompson and the Blue Suede Cruise (previous engine). It has been upgraded substantially since my original build. The engine is a new build 385 stroker, 500+HP premium pump gas, all forged bottom end with under 50 miles (for tuning purposes) and runs very strong. The short block was one of the last built by Paul Cole in Oberlin, Ohio before he passed - a highly respected circle track and drag engine builder. Straight axle was added and additional suspension work was done by Chris Baccioco, a respected gasser builder in the Sebastopol, CA area. The paint was not done for show but shows well. It's a driver and has a couple minor paint flaws not unusual for a nostalgia gasser. It has ventilated Lexan windows (side windows are removable), I added an aluminum radiator (runs cool), new SW gauges, cowl-mounted Moon tach, seat covers and more. Speedo is mounted in a cool vintage aluminum boat gauge housing. It has a vintage Series 60 B&M shifter that is currently manual shift. It has a 10-point mild steel cage with vintage side swing-out bars. Very cool strong heavy canvas aircraft seat belts. Gas tank is 10-gallon, the battery is a new red Optima boxed and bolted down through the floor behind the trunk panel. MSD 6AL ignition. Brakes are drum rear, disc front with proportioning valve and anti-drainback valve. Tires are very nice 10" Firestone Dragster street slicks rear (reversible whitewalls) and nice front skinnies all mounted on vintage Cragar S/S wheels. Neat old school triple-drilled ladder bars and vintage aluminum Cal Custom hood scoops (functional) set off her appearance. Mufflers are very good with a nice rumble (Hooker headers have cutouts). This body is largely rust-free with the only visible activity being the bottom lip of the trunk (when it's open) common to these 30's Chevy's. It was chemically treated and hasn't grown in the 17 years I've owned it. The car could easily be converted to show if that's the interest. Headliner is good but is deteriorating around the back window if that's a concern.
This is a well built machine that I've priced very reasonably at $32,000. Clear title and street registered in Ohio. I've spent much more building this sweetheart and you'll have a hard time finding more value and fun for your money. I don't expect it to last long at this price. In addition I have a nice 18' steel floor trailer with wind fairing, brand new tires and wheels, new brake hubs, pads, bearings, and axle U-bolts and plates worth over $3,000 that I'll sweeten the pot and offer to the buyer for an additional $2,000. Load up, hook up and go have fun. Car comes with a show display, basic car cover and all trophies.
This description is long enough, so I have more pics and I'll soon have a list of the impressive specifics on the engine build, transmission and suspension available to anyone with serious interest. I should have a walk-around video done sometime in the next couple weeks. Thanks for looking.
