Eye watering acceleration, huge downforce, neck stretching grip, astonishing brakes.
This car started life as a 2012 Ariel Spec Race Atom (SRA). It is professionally modified and ready to fuel and race, although a nut and bolt check is always advisable.
The car features:
- A built N/A motor with 260hp/200tq - up from 180hp/160tq stock
- Link stand alone ECU
- A Quaife 5-speed sequential trans with no lift upshifts/no blip downshifts (in place of stock Honda 6 speed manual)
- Twin disc clutch
- Dual element Frt/rear wings
- Second seat now installed w/Schroth Enduro harness - seat and harness are the same as on the driver side.

IN STOCK TRIM, the SRA Atom:
• Is powered by a Honda K24 and 6 speed transmission straight out of an 9th Gen Civic Si. Dyno testing showed the motor put out 180hp and 160 ft pounds tq to the wheels.
• 4th gear is a weak point of the stock trans and is prone to failure, particularly under track/racing conditions.
• Has no aero.
• Runs on 205 Hoosier R7s in front and 225 Hoosier R7s in the rear.
• Has a troublesome and antiquated data/video system.
IN ITS CURRENT FORM, the Atom is fitted with:
• A custom built Honda K series motor with a K20 top end and K24 bottom end putting out 260 hp and 200 ft pounds tq to the wheels. See gallery for dyno sheets. The engine has run only two test sessions and one race and one track day since.
• A Link ECU is installed in place of the stock Honda ECU. This allows greater tuning and data collection. The car is tuned to run on 100 octane unleaded. More power may be obtained if tuned for 110 oct.
• A Quaife sequential 5 speed transmission allowing no-lift upshifts and no-blip downshifts. The computer handles engine cuts for upshifts and blips for downshifts. The trans was inspected and refreshed with a new input shaft, 4th gear and minor bits in November 2023. It was run in only one test session and one track day since.
• Twin disc clutch
• Mil spec wiring harness installed in 2022 - 2023. The OE engine and chassis harnesses were removed completely from the car and discarded. Mil spec wiring was professionally designed and installed for both engine and chassis. See photo of battery box for a sample of how good the wiring looks. The car has been tested and raced with the new wiring and it is 100% with no issues.
• 245 Hoosier A7s in front and 275 Hoosier A7s in back. The car comes alive with the grip much wider and softer tires provide compared to the narrower, harder R7s.
• Rebuilt, re-valved and tuned shocks. See gallery for report on shocks from the tuner.
• Aim MXP dash and data collection.
• Aim SmartyCam GP2 camera integrated with the MXP data system.
• A 2 port USB hub is mounted in the firewall between the seats for additional cameras.
• Rear camera w/in-car monitor.
• Chassis is reinforced. The Atom chassis is prone to cracking. With almost 50% more power and wider, stickier tires, cracking welds can be a real problem. Gussets are added to prevent cracking. See pictures.
• Skid plate is fitted to protect engine and transmission. See pictures.
• Lifeline 360 fire system with dash mounted handle for the driver and an external handle for rescue workers.
• 2d seat provided and now installed in car.
• Gulf livery is paint, not wrap. Everything that is vulnerable to chipping due to flying debris is clear masked, including the entire nose, side panels, blue sections on the tub and vulnerable areas on the rear body work.
• Frt/rear dual element wings with proper bracing to prevent vibration and movement at speed.
• Note: to increase cooling at speed, the cooling fan is removed. OE fan included with sale.
- The car is corner balanced to 50/50 cross weight with a 200lb (suited up) driver.
Spares include:
- Extra set of wheels with Hoosier A7s, 245s in front and 275s in the rear
- 1 set of skinny roll around tires
- 1 set new brake pads
- 2 sets used, but serviceable brake pads
- 2 exhaust turn downs with assorted silencer discs for sound restricted tracks
- Several rear wheel bearings and seals
- Spark plugs
- Mirrors
Car is set up to accommodate string alignment. Mounts for the front and rear bars are included in the sale but the bars are not included.
